Fair Play Policy
1. Our Commitment to Fair Play
moveIQ is built on the values of sportsmanship, integrity, and respect. Fair play is fundamental to the enjoyment of draughts for all players. We are committed to maintaining a competitive environment where skill and preparation determine outcomes — not cheating or manipulation.
2. Prohibited Behaviour
The following are strictly prohibited:
- Engine Assistance: Using computer engines, AI tools, or any automated assistance to choose moves during a game.
- Account Manipulation: Sandbagging (deliberately losing to lower your rating), rating manipulation, or operating multiple accounts.
- Collusion: Coordinating with another player to fix or manipulate game outcomes.
- Abandonment: Repeatedly disconnecting or resigning to avoid rated losses.
- Stalling: Intentionally running down your clock in a lost position.
- Harassment: Using the platform to harass, threaten, or intimidate other users.
- Impersonation: Claiming to be another player or using another person's account.
3. Cheat Detection
We use a combination of automated analysis and human review to detect violations:
- Statistical move accuracy analysis comparing play against reference engines.
- Timing and behavioural pattern analysis.
- Correlation analysis across multiple accounts.
- Human review by experienced draughts players for borderline cases.
Detection algorithms are continually improved. The specifics of our detection methods are not disclosed in order to prevent circumvention.
4. Consequences of Violations
Consequences are proportionate to severity and repeat offences:
- Warning: For first-time minor violations.
- Temporary suspension: 7 to 90 days depending on severity.
- Rating adjustment: Restoration of ratings affected by manipulation.
- Permanent ban: For severe or repeated violations, including engine use.
- Tournament disqualification: With forfeiture of prizes where applicable.
5. Appeals Process
If you believe a fair play decision was made in error, you may appeal within 14 days of the notification. Submit your appeal with supporting information to: fairplay@playdraughts.org
Appeals are reviewed by a panel independent of the original decision. We aim to respond within 14 days. Appeal decisions are final.
6. Reporting Violations
If you suspect another player of violating this policy, please use the in-game report button or email fairplay@playdraughts.org with the game ID and a description of your concern. All reports are treated confidentially.
7. Sportsmanship Standards
Beyond the specific prohibitions above, we expect all players to:
- Treat opponents with respect regardless of the result.
- Complete games to a natural conclusion.
- Use chat (where available) constructively and courteously.
- Acknowledge good play by opponents.
- Report suspected violations rather than retaliating.
